#1 Mavericks Complete the 6-0 Weekend

DENVER, Colo. – Top-ranked Colorado Mesa completed the broken up six-game series with the Regis on Monday (Apr. 26) by sweeping the Rangers in a doubleheader and moving their winning streak to 18 games.

In game one, Jared Ure pitched seven strong innings and the offense got two home runs off the bat of Matthew Turner in a 14-1 win over the Rangers.

Ure (3-1) allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out four in his seven innings of work. He retired 10 of the last 11 batters he faced while lowering his ERA to a team best 2.33.

Turner finished the game 2-for-4 with four runs scored and four runs driven in as he hit his conference leading 13th and 14th home runs of the season. His first homer of the game was a two-run shot to left field that gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead while his second was another two-run shot to left that extended that lead to 6-0 in the seventh inning.

Haydn McGeary finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and four runs driven in. He hit his 12th home run of the season in the seventh inning, a solo shot to left center field.

In the second and final game of the series with Regis, the Mavericks benefitted from three home runs and four Ranger errors in a 12-8 win

Second baseman Harrison Rodgers hit the first home run of the game for the Mavericks as he belted a three-run homer to right center field to give Colorado Mesa a 5-1 lead. It was Rodgers' eighth home run of the season.

Matthew Turner wasn't done on the day as he hit his 15th home run of the season in the fourth inning. The dinger was a solo shot to left field that gave the Mavericks a 7-1 lead at the time. The home run was part of a five run fourth inning for the Mavericks.

Caleb Farmer hit the final home run of the game for Colorado Mesa. Farmer's home run was a solo shot to left field in the top of the sixth inning and gave the Mavericks a 12-6 advantage. It was his fifth home run of the season with this one coming as the catcher in the game.

McGeary, Stubbings, Bramwell, Rodgers and Farmer all finished the game with two hits.

Gage Edwards made his first career start as a Maverick and had a solid outing. Edwards (2-0) allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out five in four innings of work to earn his second win of the season.
