ALAMOSA, Colo. – For the second straight day, the No. 2 Colorado Mesa baseball team scored 29 runs, this time in a 29-6 win over the Adams State Grizzlies on Sunday in a single nine-inning game at ASU Baseball Field.

The Mavericks, 5-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the RMAC, pounded out 26 hits with more than half of those hits going for extra bases (14). As a part of the hit barrage, they slugged out seven home runs in the game with two coming off the bat of Haydn McGeary and Conrad Villafuerte.

McGeary had quite the day as he finished the game 5-for-6 with a double, two home runs, three runs scored and nine runs driven in. The COVID sophomore's first home run was a two-run shot to left field that came in the fourth inning as a part of a three-home run inning for the Mavericks. His second came in the seventh inning and was a grand slam.

Villafuerte finished 2-for-3 with two home runs, two runs scored and four runs driven in. His first home run came in the three-home run fourth inning, a two-run blast to left field while his second came just an inning later in the fifth inning, another two-run homer to left field.

Outfielder Matthew Turner finished the game 4-for-6 with a home run, five runs scored and three-runs driven in. His home run came in the fifth inning, a two-run dinger to center field.
