Hit Parade Gives #2 Mavericks Big Win

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The No. 2 Colorado Mesa baseball team opened up the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season with a hit parade in a 29-1 over the Adams State Grizzlies 0in a single nine-inning game on Saturday afternoon at ASU Baseball Field.

The Mavericks exploded for 33 hits including 15 that went for extra bases. They hit five home runs including two off the bat of Jordan Stubbings. Matthew Turner hit one in the first inning, a solo shot to left center field to get the scoring going.

Colorado Mesa put up big, crooked numbers in both the second and fifth innings. In the second, they scored seven runs on six hits and benefitted from one Grizzly error. Haydn McGeary had a three-run double and Stubbings hit the first of his two home runs in the inning.

In the fifth, the Mavericks scored eight runs on six hits while Adams State committed one error. Stubbings delivered his second home run, a two-run shot to start the scoring in the frame. Chase Hamilton delivered the final blow of the inning with a two-run single to center field.

Every Maverick that played in the positional lineup recorded a hit with 10 recording multiple hits. Spencer Bramwell led the way going 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two driven in.

On the mound, Trevin Reynolds pitched five shutout innings to earn his second win of the season. He allowed just four hits, walked one and struck out four while throwing just 55 pitches.
