GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team opened their season against CSU Pueblo Friday on Maverick Field, falling by a 1-0 decision.
CSU Pueblo took a total of nine shots on goal to the Mavericks 10. Freshman, 
Chloe Dody got her first start in goal for CMU coming up with six saves in her collegiate debut. Nicole Genis started in the goal for the Thunderwolves picking up three saves on the afternoon.

Lila Dere also made her Maverick debut leading the team's front line with four shots. Returner, 
Lexi Newton had a trio of good looks on goal with three other CMU players taking shots at the frame.
Both teams remained scoreless after the first half, each team's defense coming up with some big stops.
Colorado Mesa continued to keep the CSU Pueblo attack quiet, up until the 4-minute mark. The Thunderwolves defense chipped one over midfield and beating out the Maverick defense, and to an awaiting Litzy Serna who arched it over CMU's final line of defense for the lone goal of the game.
Cara Siegel recorded four shots for her team, followed up by Faith Meredith with two.
Mavericks will look to bounce back against Fort Lewis on Sunday in another non-conference matchup with. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Maverick Field.
