Women's Lacrosse Compete Against Top-Ranked UIndy

Indianapolis, In. – The Colorado Mesa women's lacrosse team (1-3, 0-0 RMAC) closed out their road trip taking on another top-25 opponent in No. 2 Greyhounds of UIndy Tuesday afternoon at Key Stadium. The Mavericks were out shot 57-20, but recorded 19 saves on the day.

Each of the Mavs seven goals were scored by a different player, with Ashton Whittle, Lauren Wick and Brianna Anderson picking up two points thanks to a goal and an assist.

Taylor Jakeman, with Wick on the assist, scored in the first ninety seconds of play. Short lived the Greyhounds would go on to score four unanswered points to gain the upper hand.

Elizabeth Renken would quiet the scoring run briefly, with a goal of her own. Around the seventh minute Lauren Wick sparked a back and forth affair between the teams
to end first action.

The Mavs would take the momentum from the end of the first half, into the first ten minutes of the second, with goals from Regan Wentz and Brianna Anderson, but would be the only two scores for the rest of the afternoon.

Jakeman also led with four draw controls, along with Kiley Davis who caused two turnovers.

Lula Mitchell rallied to stop 19 shot attempts on the day.

The Mavericks will make the trip home to prepare for their conference opener against Westminster on Saturday on Maverick Field.
