#2 Mavericks Push Win Streak Over Orediggers to 15.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 2 Colorado Mesa baseball team extended its winning streak over Colorado School of Mines to 15 games after a doubleheader sweep of the Orediggers on Saturday afternoon at Suplizio Field.
 
In the day's opening game, Ryan Day took the ball and was in control from the first pitch as he led the Mavericks to a 9-1 win. Day allowed one run (unearned) on five hits, walked none and struck out nine to earn his second win of the season.
 
The Prosper, Texas native retired the first eight batters he faced and struck out at least one batter in every inning he pitched.
 
Colorado Mesa tallied two runs in the first and two runs in the third before exploding for five runs in the fourth inning.
 
Haydn McGeary got the Mavericks going in the first with a two-run home run to center field followed by a two-run home run by Spencer Bramwell in the third inning.
 
RBI base hits by Blaine Demello, Tyler Parker, Bramwell, and Conrad Villafuerte sparked the five run fourth inning for the Mavericks.
 
Bramwell finished the game 2-for-4 with four runs driven in and his fourth home run of the season.
 
McGeary and Parker each had multi-hit games.
 
In the night cap, Colorado Mesa had two innings where they scored eight runs in a 22-5 victory over the Orediggers to complete the doubleheader sweep.
 
Four Mavericks finished the game with three hits highlighted by Tanner Garner who finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four runs driven in. He belted a grand slam in the eight run fourth inning, his second round tripper of the season.
 
Caleb Farmer boosted his season batting average to .471 after going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five runs driven in.
 
Nolan Walker and Jax Nourse each hit home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for their first homers of the season.
 
Senior Trevin Reynolds earned his third win of the season after earning the start in the third game of the series. Reynolds allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits, walked one and struck out eight.
 
Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines will play the final game of the series tomorrow at Noon at Suplizio Field.
