GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team took on their rivals the Western Colorado Mountaineers on Tuesday evening in a makeup game from a couple weeks ago. The Mountaineers came away with a 53-51 victory after scoring the final five points of the game.
The Mavericks trailed by as many as 12 in the game with 1:06 to play in the first half after a pair of Western Colorado free throws. They came all the way back, outscoring the Mountaineers 20-8 in the third quarter to take a 42-41 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Colorado Mesa climbed to a five-point lead at 46-41 with 8:02 to play after
Sierra McNicol drained a free throw. Western pulled to even at 48-48 with 4:14 to play but Colorado Mesa took a three-point lead with 1:55 to play but couldn't hang onto the lead surrendering the final five points of the contest.
The Mavericks had two shots in the final 12 seconds of play but couldn't find the bottom of the net.

Natalie Bartle led the Mavericks in scoring with 15 points with senior
Kylyn Rigsby adding 14 points with four of her five made field goals coming from beyond the arc.
Sierra McNicol finished with seven points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
Western Colorado's Hannah Cooper led all scorers with 19 points.
The Mavericks will return home for a matchup with the Adams State Grizzlies
