#NSD2021: Football Inks 10 for 2021

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado Mesa head football coach Tremaine Jackson announced the signing of 10 student-athletes that will compete for the Mavericks in the fall of 2021.  Seven of the 10 incoming student-athletes are coming in on the offensive side of the ball with the other three coming in as defensive backs.

"We signed a very quality group of guys today.  We're excited about them and can't wait to add them to the rest of our team!" coach Jackson said. "I want to thank our coaching staff for the phenomenal job they did considering all the restrictions we had to deal with due to COVID-19. Our future is bright! Go Mavs!"

Alexander Bruns - OL - 6-3 - 285 - Parker, Colo. (Regis Jesuit H.S.)

Played for the Raiders of Regis Jesuit High School and coach Dan Filleman...Sports360AZ All-Academic Team...First Team All-Conference selection...6A Premier All-Conference selection (AZ)...Chose CMU for the proximity to home and the opportunity to play football...Plans to major in Civil Engineering.

Kia'i Keone - QB - 5-11 - 170 - Pacific Palisades, Hawai'i (Skyridge H.S. (Utah))

Played his senior year at Skyridge High School and Jon Lehman in Lehi, Utah and previously played at Kamehameha High School and coach Abu Ma'afala...Academic All-Region selection...Team Offensive MVP as a senior.

Branden Knox - OL - 6-1 - 275 - Seguin, Texas (Seguin H.S.)

Played for the Matadors of Seguin High School and head coach Ben Norton...All-District Second Team...All-Area Second Team...Academic All-State...Chose CMU for the opportunity and the coaching staff...Aspires to serve in the United States Navy upon graduation.

Jason Soderlin - OL - 6-3 - 270 - Littleton, Colo. (Dakota Ridge H.S.)

Played for the Eagles of Dakota Ridge High School and coach Ron Woitalewicz...Two-time First Team All-Conference selection...First Team CHSAA All-State...CHSCA All-State Game...Blue Grey All-American...Chose CMU for the coaching staff and the opportunity to stay in state to play football...Plans to major in Business. 

Tyson Splinter - WR/TE - 6-4 - 205 - Mt. Prospect, Ill. (Prospect H.S.)

Enoch Woolfolk - DB - 5-10 - 170 - Denver, Colo. (Cherry Creek H.S.)

Played for the Bruins of Cherry Creek High School and head coach Dave Logan...Chose CMU for the academic programs and the athletic opportunity...Plans to major in Business.

Emari Smith - WR - 5-9 - 175 - Los Angeles, Calif (Salesian H.S. || College of the Canyons)

Played two seasons at College of the Canyons...Played in seven games and had eight catches for 53 yards...Had five catches in a 34-7 win over Long Beach.

Darrien Young - DB - 5-10 - 190 - Katy, Texas (Morton Ranch H.S. || Modesto Junior College)

Played two seasons at Modesto Junior College and helped the team to the Nor-Cal Championship game...Totaled eight interceptions and 53 tackles in his two seasons with the Pirates.
