GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The dynamic duo of
Mariah Martin and
Daniella Turner accounted for 57 of the Mavericks 79 points in a 79-69 win over Adams State on Friday (Dec. 17) evening in Brownson Arena in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
Martin scored a career-high 33 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field including 1-for-1 from beyond the arc. The Sandy, Utah native made her money at the free-throw line where she set a program record 18-for-18 effort from the stripe. She also added seven assists and six rebounds in the win.
She broke a 27-year-old record that was set by Maverick Hall of Honor member Tonya Stites in 1994 against Adams State where she made 16 free-throws.
Martin runs her consecutive free-throws made streak to 34 and ranks No. 1 in the country in free-throw percentage at 96.4 percent.
Martin paired with
Daniella Turner to provide the scoring. Turner finished with 24 points on 9-for-19 shooting and nearly completed the double-double with nine rebounds.
Despite the 10-point win, the Grizzlies would stay close the whole game and they even had the score tied at 65-65 with four and a half minutes left to play. Colorado Mesa used a 7-0 run to build a 72-65 lead with just 2:50 to play. Turner scored 10 of the Mavericks final 12 points in the game.

th birthday.
Colorado Mesa will now have a top of the standings showdown with CSU Pueblo on Saturday in Brownson Arena. The ThunderWolves defeated Westminster on Thursday evening to stay perfect in RMAC play.
