GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa women's basketball head coach
Taylor Wagner moved to 18-0 in the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic and has the Mavericks 5-0 for the first time since 2017 after a 75-63 win over Montana Western on Saturday evening in Brownson Arena.
Mariah Martin led four Mavericks in double figures with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field. The Sandy, Utah native made two threes and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. She added six rebounds, six assists, and had two steals.
Daniella Turner recorded her second career and second double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. She was 7-for-14 from the field and added three assists and two steals.
Kelsey Siemons finished with 11 while
Savannah Domgaard had 15 on 4-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
The starting lineup scored 69 of the team's points.
Colorado Mesa built a 27-point lead in the first half after a Turner bucket in the paint with 3:15 to go in the second.
Montana Western, ranked No. 24 in the NAIA National Poll, was led by Brynley Fitzgerald who had 17 points.
The Mavericks open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next weekend in Denver. They will take on the MSU Denver Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon before a Sunday tilt with Colorado Christian.
