Lakewood, Colo. – For the second time in as many games, the Colorado Mesa men's soccer team went into double-overtime, this time ending in a draw with Colorado Christian to close out the regular season schedule.
The Mavericks were nearly matched in shots, but edged the Cougars out by one. Each team took three shots on goal and made a pair of saves throughout the 110-minutes.
CCU drew first blood in the 31
st minute, Tobi Osifodunrin slotting the ball into the far side of the goal on a long pass from the defensive third.
Down a goal at the half, it was short lived as
Ethan Anderson scored the tie-breaker from 20-yards out in the 46
th minute, teaming up with
Alec Fronapfel in the process.
Neither team took a shot in the first overtime period, the Mavs looked to break through in the final three minutes taking three shots but two missed high and one going wide left.
The Mavs finish the conference schedule 8-1-1 and will await the seeding for the upcoming conference tournament.
