Women's Soccer Leaves Las Vegas with a Win

Las Vegas, N.M. – It took some extra playing time, but the Colorado Mesa women's soccer escaped their first game of the weekend, 1-0 over the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys Friday afternoon.

The Mavericks held a 15-6 advantage in shots, and put 11 of their strikes on target. Lila Dere continued to add to her season shot total, taking five throughout the afternoon and putting two on target.

Michaela Dangler was behind the game winner, coming out on top of a scuffle right in front of the goal just as time winded down in the first overtime period. The goal was the defender's second of the season.

Chloe Dody secured five saves on the day, going the distance to help aid in the shutout.

The Cowboys took less than half the shots taken by the Mavs, but strategically put five of their six shots on goal. Katherine Scott took away 10 saves for her team.
