GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Senior
Kylyn Rigsby scored a career-high 34 points and 11 rebounds to lead Colorado Mesa to a 66-55 win over the Regis Rangers on Saturday evening in Brownson Arena in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
Colorado Mesa improves to 19-2 coming off a loss dating back to the 2016-17 season and 3-0 overall this season. The Mavericks improved to 9-3 on the season and in the conference.
Rigsby was 12-of-26 from the field including 4-of-11 from three. She was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line and handed out four assists. Her previous career-high came in the RMAC tournament last year where she had 26 points against MSU Denver to send the Mavericks to the semifinals.
The senior also shined bright on the defensive end as well, finishing a double-double with a career-high 11 rebounds.
Colorado Mesa's intensity picked up from the night before. After allowing 22 first quarter points, the Mavericks allowed the Rangers to score 33 points the rest of the way.
Fellow senior
Kelsey Siemons finished the game with 15 points to round out the Mavericks in double digits.
Regis was led by Whitney Jacob's 15 points while Morgan L. Smith had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Mavericks will head back out on the road for two contests. They are scheduled to take on the Western Colorado Mountaineers on Friday and Fort Lewis on Saturday.
