DURANGO, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team earned their 10
th win of the season on Friday evening after a 71-49 win over rival Fort Lewis in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks played one of their more complete games of the year limiting the Skyhawks to just 32.7 percent from the field and forced 17 Fort Lewis turnovers. They scored 28 points off those turnovers while committing just eight turnovers of their own.
Colorado Mesa closed out the first quarter on a 10-0 run that covered the final 3:46 and never looked back.
Kylyn Rigsby had her second straight big scoring night as she led all scorers with 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field. She scored 17 of her 26 points in the first half while adding six rebounds and three steals in the game.
Redshirt sophomore
Natalie Bartle had a nice bounce back game with 17 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals while playing 34 minutes. Bartle struggled at home last week while coming off an injury.
Kelsey Siemons also chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and five assists in the game. Siemons also drew the defensive assignment on Skyhawks leading scorer Jordan Vasquez for most of the night and limited her to 14 points and seven rebounds, roughly six points and three rebounds below her season average.
Not to go unnoticed
Sophie Anderson set a pair of career-highs in the win. Anderson scored just three points but had 11 rebounds and seven assists, both career highs.
Colorado Mesa will return home for a matchup with Westminster on Tuesday at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
