GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team committed a season-high 20 turnovers and shot a season-low 30 percent from the field in a 58-50 loss to Colorado School of Mines on Friday evening in Brownson Arena.
The Mavericks (8-3, 8-3 RMAC) never led in the contest and trailed by as many as 16 points in the second quarter with 4:26 to play in the half. They were able to cut the lead to just three at halftime and actually had the lead down to two with 6:34 to go in the third quarter following a three-pointer by
Savannah Domgaard but that was as close as they got in the second half.
The 20 turnovers led to 21 Oredigger points while also dominating in points in the paint with a 32-12 advantage.
Kylyn Rigsby led all scorers with 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and three made three-pointers while teammate
Natalie Bartle finished with 14 points.
Morgan Myers-Pack provided a spark off the bench as she played a season-high 21 minutes and had seven points, three rebounds and five steals.
Colorado School of Mines was led by Sammy Van Sickle and Raven Herrera who each had 13 points.
The Mavericks will look to bounce back tomorrow night as they take on the Regis Rangers at 5:30pm in Brownson Arena.
