LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team had the bounce back game they were looking for in a 67-39 win over the Colorado Christian Cougars on Saturday evening at the CCU Events Center in RMAC action.
The Maverick defense was stingy on Saturday evening as they limited the Cougars to just 24.1 shooting percentage and outrebounded them 43-23 in the game. Contrary to last night's game, they committed just 14 fouls and shot 79.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Senior leaders
Kelsey Siemons and
Kylyn Rigsby paced the Mavericks tonight as each recorded a double-double in the win. Siemons finished with a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds while Rigsby had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Fellow senior
Sierra McNicol had a nice night finishing with 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and pulled down seven rebounds.
Colorado Mesa never trailed in the game and limited Colorado Christian to just 15 points in the first half.
Colorado Christian was led by Brooklyn Hurlbut who finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Mavericks will return home for two important contests. On Friday, they will take on Colorado School of Mines at 5:30pm, where no fans will be allowed, before a showdown with Regis on Saturday, where fans are TBD at this time.
