Colorado Mesa Football Announces Fall Game Schedule

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa football team has announced a portion of their fall schedule this afternoon (Sept. 7). The Mavericks are currently scheduled to play four games this fall beginning on Oct. 10.

"I'd first like to thank President Foster, our COVID-19 response team and our athletic administration for their work behind the scenes to make this schedule possible," head coach Tremaine Jackson said. "Our players have been looking forward to this day, where we have competition dates in place."

The Mavericks, Chadron State, Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines teamed up for a series of games from Oct. 10 to Oct. 24 in a round robin format. The four RMAC schools have agreed to the format and dates, which are all subject to change and will be played as non-RMAC games.

Colorado Mesa will open up the season at home against Chadron State at 12pm (noon) on Oct. 10 at Stocker Stadium. The Mavericks and Eagles were originally scheduled to play that game on Sept. 24 in Nebraska before the original fall schedule was wiped clean due to COVID.

The Mavericks will then head to Spearfish to take on Black Hills State on Oct. 17 in a matchup of the two schools who each have a new head coach this season. Colorado Mesa was already scheduled to make the trip to South Dakota in early November before the changes to the fall.

The final game of the round robin will have the Mavericks hosting South Dakota Mines on Oct. 24 at Stocker Stadium with a 12pm (noon) kickoff. The Hardrockers were the season opening opponent for the Mavericks a year ago and were scheduled to make the return trip in November.

CMU will round out the fall with a trip to the Lone Star State for a showdown with West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas on Nov. 21. It will be the first time the two team's matchup since 2008 when the Buffs traveled to Grand Junction and defeated the Mavericks 23-20 at Stocker Stadium.

The Mavericks are also working on 2-3 more games and those will be announced at a later date.

"Now we go to work on preparing ourselves to put the best product out on the field to make our fans, alumni and community proud!"
