#7 Mavs Sweep Doubleheader from Regis

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 7 Colorado Mesa baseball swept a doubleheader from the Regis Rangers on Saturday (Mar. 7) afternoon at Suplizio Field.

In the first game of the day, Spencer Bramwell's walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Mavericks a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Regis Rangers.

Regis (8-9, 0-3 RMAC) took the early lead in the game, tallying a run in the first inning on a first and third double-play.

Colorado Mesa (13-4, 3-0 RMAC) evened the game up in the bottom of the fifth inning on a RBI single by Jonathon Gonzalez that brought home Chase Hamilton.

In the next half inning, Regis took the lead on a double through the left side that found its way into the gap in left center field.

In the bottom half of the inning, Haydn McGeary tied the game back up with a double to left center field that brought around Caleb Farmer. That led to Bramwell's heroics.

Bramwell finished the game 2-for-4 to lead the Mavericks.

Garrett Tisdall (2-1) earned the win in relief, pitching an inning and two-thirds of perfect baseball with two strikeouts.

In the night cap, it was all Jared Ure. The freshman turned in his best outing as a Maverick, leading the team to a 6-2 win over the Rangers.

Ure allowed two runs on four hits while striking out seven in a complete game, seven inning effort. The Eaton, Colo. product retired 10 in a row at one point and had just one blemish in the game, a Ranger two-run home run in the third inning.

Caleb Farmer continued to have a good weekend. He gave the Mavericks the lead in the bottom of the second inning with his fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot to left to make it 3-0. Farmer finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs driven in.

Colorado Mesa added two more in the fifth and one in the sixth on a RBI double by Conrad Villafuerte.

The Mavericks and Rangers will conclude the conference opening series on Sunday with a single game beginning at Noon.
