GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Senior ace
Trevin Reynolds pitched the No. 7 Colorado Mesa Mavericks to a 5-0 win over Regis in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener on Friday (Mar. 6) afternoon at Suplizio Field.
Reynolds pitched a complete-game, nine inning shutout and recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts in the effort. The Las Vegas, Nev. native allowed just six hits and walked one while throwing only 115 pitches. He retired seven in a row at one point that included four strikeouts.
The offense got all they needed in the bottom of the third inning when
Tyler Parker singled home
Caleb Farmer for the 1-0 lead.
Farmer added to the lead with a solo home run to left in the bottom of the fifth inning. His fourth home run gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead. The added one more in the inning as
Tanner Garner scored on a fielding error by the Rangers.
Farmer finished the game 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Colorado Mesa used the long ball one more time in the bottom of the seventh inning when
Tanner Garner belted a solo shot to left for the 4-0 lead. It was Garner's third of the season.
Garner went 3-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Chase Hamilton got in on the action with a RBI double to left field that scored
Spencer Bramwell on the play for the Mavericks fifth and final run of the game.
The Mavericks and Ranger will play a doubleheader tomorrow at 1pm.
