GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball fell 87-76 to Western Colorado in the final game of the regular season on Friday night in Paul Wright Gym in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
Tommy Nuno scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and a career-high 4-for-7 from beyond the three-point line. He tied for the team-high in rebounds with six and handed out a pair of assists.
Ethan Richardson finished with 13 points and
Michael Skinner ended with 10 points and six rebounds to round out the Mavericks in double digits.
It wasn't enough for the Mavericks as Western's Monroe Porter saved his best game for last. The senior Mountaineer scored 22 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead his team to a win in his final game.
For the Mavericks, the loss snaps a six-game winning streak against Western Colorado that dated back to the 2016-17 season.
Madness went down in the RMAC tonight. Black Hills State made a four-point play with one second left to defeat South Dakota Mines, creating a three-way tie for fifth-place in the standings. With all that has happened, the Mavericks will host a RMAC Tournament matchup on Tuesday evening against UCCS at 7:30pm.
