Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team's road struggles continued in a 91-89 loss to the Regis Rangers on Friday evening in Regis Fieldhouse in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. The loss makes it six straight setbacks on the road.
The Rangers used a 17-4 run in the final 5:53 of the first half to build a 51-36 lead at the break. They led by as many as 27 points in the second half with 10:52 to play in the game but the Mavericks decided to make things interesting late.
With just 1:55 to go in the game, Colorado Mesa came roaring back to tie the game at 87-87 after a layup by
Tommy Nuno, capping a 36-9 run in nearly nine minutes of play.
Nuno finished with 16 in the game and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. He finished with a team-high six assists.
Senior
Michael Skinner scored a team-high 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 7-for-9 from the free-throw line.
Jared Small finished with 17 points while
Ethan Menzies had 10 points to round out the Mavericks in double-digits.
Ranger Christian Little finished with a game-high 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field.
The Mavericks will close out a four game road swing tomorrow night with a matchup with Colorado Christian in Lakewood at 7pm.
