GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Maverick women's soccer team will begin Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games this weekend on the road against Colorado Christian and Colorado School of Mines. The Mavs will first take on CCU at 11 am on Friday September 20th at Trailblazer Stadium. After that game, the Mavericks will travel to Golden, Colo. to face Colorado School of Mines at the Stermole Soccer Stadium. That game will begin at noon.
The Mavericks are currently 3-1-0 on the season and are coming off their first loss of the year where they fell in overtime to Newman University.
Sophomore Taylor Jones leads the Mavs with two goals on the season in four consecutive starts. She has recorded a team high nine shots this season. Four of which have been on target. Her and Zoe Peterson are the only two Mavericks with game winning goals. Jones' game winning goal came against Nebraska Kearney as it was the only goal of the game. Â
Peterson recorded her game winning goal in the Mavs 2-1 win over Western. Peterson is tied with Sydney Hathaway in points with three. Each of them have one goal and one assists on the year.
Kamrie Gunderson who has played every minute in the net this year for the Mavericks has recorded 11 saves and a  0.75 goals against average.
The Mavericks defense which is led by defender Jocelyn Ceccarelli has limited their opponents to just 25 shots and 14 shots on goals.
About Colorado Christian
The Cougars are 2-2 entering Friday's match and are on a two game losing streak. They fell to Eckerd College in overtime 1-0 and Rollins College 4-0.
They are led by Brooklyn Schultz who has started each game and recorded two goals this season. The Cougars are outshooting their opponents 40-36 and averaging 10.0 shots per game.
They have allowed seven goals this season and recorded four of their own with only one of them being assisted.

The Orediggers of Golden are currently 3-1 and just recently lost to Angelo State 1-0. Prior to that loss they shutout their two previous opponents and only allowed one goal in their season opener.
They are led by Emi Higgins who has two goals in four consecutive starts. Shannon Mooney has played every minute in the net for the Orediggers and has recorded a 0.49 goals against average and recorded 17 saves.
The Oredigger will play Western on Friday at 5 pm prior to their match against the Mavericks on Sunday at noon.
