CMU enters RMAC play with even 4-4 record

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Colorado Mesa University All-American Kasie Gilfert recorded a match-high 16 kills and hit an impressive .625 in a 3-set defeat at the hands of Missouri Western State University on Saturday morning here in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The 25-23, 25-16, 25-19 loss to the Griffons ended the Mavericks' 1-3 weekend at the Drury Invitational and leaves them with a 4-4 overall record heading into the start of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next weekend.

The Griffons improved to 6-1 for the first time since 2006 with the victory as they had four different players with eight or more kills.

MWSU hit .320 as a team and took advantage of nine Maverick service errors throughout the match.

They also had a big 49-36 advantage in total digs as the Mavericks were also guilty of 16 hitting errors.
