PUEBLO, Colo.— The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks won a thrilling No. 3 doubles tie-breaker by just two points and then claimed all four of their singles wins in three sets to take a thrilling 5-2 neutral-court men's tennis decision over NCAA Division II South Central Regional rival Texas-Permian Basin on Friday morning here at the Pueblo Duals, being played at Pueblo City Park.
The Mavericks improved to 2-0 on the weekend and the season with the victory while the Falcons slipped to 1-1 after defeating CSU-Pueblo on Thursday.

Christian Albrechtsen and junior
Thiago Nejm won their No. 3 doubles match by an 8-6 margin in the tiebreaker to seize the doubles point.
The Falcons then won straight set matches at No. 1 and No. 3 singles over Albrechtsen and
Moises Cure to take a 2-1 team lead before the Mavericks came storming back with their 3-set thrillers to claim the match.
Redshirt Senior
Mitchell Steadman won the clincher at No. 6 singles as he came from a set down to defeat Lorenzo Lopes, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. It was Steadman's first official dual-meet victory in nearly two years in what was his first appearance in the Mavs' top 6 since the spring of 2018.
Earlier, the Mavs had gone in front thanks to a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 No. 2 singles triumph by
Alain De La Bastide at No. 2 singles and an even tighter 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory at No. 3 by freshman
Tyler Landen.
Steven Howe then finished off the match with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 win over Roberto Garcia at No. 5 singles.
Earlier, Landen and Howe had crushed Enrique Sanchez and Lopes by a 6-1 margin at No. 2 doubles.
Cody Carlton also won an exhibition pro-set singles match, 8-5 after he and Steadman were defeated 6-4 in a doubles encounter.
The Mavericks had defeated Dallas Baptist by an identical 5-2 score on Thursday and will look to close out a perfect weekend on Saturday when they face the Newman Jets at noon.
