Colorado Mesa Seeded No. 1 Ahead of National Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA National Baseball committee seeded the National Championship Tournament this morning on a conference call. In 2018, the National Committee started reseeding the final eight teams that advance to the finals site.
 
Colorado Mesa earned the No. 1 seed after winning the South Central Super Regional last night in San Angelo, Texas. The Mavericks will enter the tournament with a 50-10 record and will play the No. 8 seed New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). The Bears enter the tournament with a 37-14 record and champions of the East Super Regional.
 
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
 
Central Region champion and No. 4 seed Central Missouri and Midwest Region champion and No. 5 seed Ashland will square off in the other Bracket One matchup.
 
The NCAA Division II Baseball Championships begin on Saturday June 1 at the USA Baseball Training Facility in Cary, N.C. Colorado Mesa and NYIT will be the second game of the day on Saturday and is scheduled to begin at 7pm (ET).
 
Bracket Two features the No. 2 seeded Tampa taking on No. 7 seed Mercyhurst in the night cap on Sunday. Tampa won the South Super Regional in two games over Delta State while Mercyhurst won the Atlantic Super Regional in three games over Charleston.
 
In the other matchup, Southeast Champion and No. 3 seed Catawba will take on No. 6 seed and West Champion UC San Diego in the morning game on Sunday. UC San Diego is making their third straight trip to the NCAA National Championships.
