GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team bounced back in grand fashion on Saturday night with a 94-63 win over the Colorado Christian Cougars in Brownson Arena in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks led wire-to-wire and grew their biggest lead to 31 points at the 7:59 mark of the second half after
Kenzo Nudo hit his lone three of the night to make 80-49.
Colorado Mesa enjoyed one of their best shooting nights of the season after hitting shots at a 61.4 percent clip (shot 66 percent in the season opener against Dallas Baptist) including 75.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Senior big man
Damon Dubots scored a game-high 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Dubots played in just a little over 19 minutes and was perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
Kenzo Nudo finished with 17 points while
Connor Nichols chipped in 12.
Junior
Tommy Nuno filled up the stat sheet going for 16 points, pulled down four rebounds, and handed out seven assists. On the defensive end, he had three steals and blocked a shot.
Colorado Mesa improved to 14-7 on the season and 9-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while Colorado Christian fell to 6-15 on the year and 4-11 in the conference.
The Mavericks will be on the road next weekend when they travel to the two Utah schools for a pair of games. They will take on Westminster on Friday to open the road trip.
