Mavericks get big win over Regis

DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's basketball team earned a huge win on Saturday evening as the defeated the Regis Rangers 75-71 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action in Regis Fieldhouse.
 
Colorado Mesa shot 50.8 percent from the field in the game and different than most week's their defense limited the Rangers to 35.3 percent from the field. The Mavericks were a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
 
The Mavericks scored 50 of their 75 points in the paint.
 
Connor Nichols and Kenzo Nudo combined for 46 of the 75 points scored on the night. Nudo tied for the game-high with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting including 4-for-7 from three while Nichols had 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting and 1-for-2 from behind the arc.
 
Tommy Nuno filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists on the night.
 
Jarrett Broadbeck paced Regis with 25 points on 10-of-22 shooting from the field.
 
The Mavericks avenged a loss to the Rangers that occurred earlier this month on February 1 in Brownson Arena when Jarrett Broadbeck buried a three-pointer as time expired, 78-75.
 
Colorado Mesa improves their record to 17-8 on the season and 12-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. With the win, the Mavericks will likely move up a spot, possibly two, in the standings pending outcomes of tonight's other RMAC games.
 
The Mavericks will play their final three games of the regular season in the friendly confinds of Brownson Arena beginning next weekend. Colorado Mesa will host rival Fort Lewis on Friday before a Saturday tilt with the Adams State Grizzlies.
