GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's wrestling team won seven of the ten bouts in a 32-15 win over Midland University in the Fall Brawl dual in Brownson Arena.
Five of the seven wins either came by way of fall or forfeit with the another coming by technical fall.
Freshman
Jennesis Martinez earned a pin of Esther Walker in the bout at 101 pounds followed by a forfeit win at 109 pounds to give Colorado Mesa a 10-0 lead in the dual.
Cindy Zepeda earned a pin of Avery Thomason at 130 pounds followed by
Dalia Garibay's technical fall win over Tanalei Lewis. Lewis defeated Garibay on Sunday 6-2 at the Missouri Valley Open.
Alma Mendoza earned the Mavericks final win in a contested bout of the night at 155 pounds with a pin of Kaelie Tomlin at the 2:13 mark of the first period.
The win puts the Mavericks at 1-1 on the season in duals.
Colorado Mesa will host the Maverick Open on Sunday at 9am in Brownson Arena.
