Mavericks Conclude Season at Home

GRAND JUNCTION, CO- The Colorado Mesa Football team will conclude their 2019 season at Ralph Stocker Stadium this Saturday, November 16th at 1pm. The Mavericks will face off against the Cowboys of New Mexico Highlands University, in what will also be their last Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup of the season. This weekend's game will also serve as an opportunity for the Colorado Mesa football community to honor our nation's military and first responders, for the annual military and first responder's appreciation day.

Headed into this weekend's contest, the Cowboys will be coming off of a big win against a fellow RMAC opponent, Western Colorado. New Mexico Highlands football defeated the Mountaineers on their own turf in a close 24-22 win last Saturday, November 9th. The Cowboys are now 2-7 overall and 2-7 in the RMAC, with their only other win coming from Black Hills State University (17-13).

Colorado Mesa has defeated the Cowboys in eight of their last ten meetings, their only losses coming in 2011 and 2012.

The Colorado Mesa University football team wasted no time in their 35-13 win over RMAC opponent, Adams State University. The Mavericks took an early 7-0 lead over the Grizzlies less than a minute into the contest at Rex Stadium in Alamosa Colorado. The game was one of the most complete performances that CMU football has had this season. The Maverick offense was responsible for all 35 of the teams points and had 494 total yards of offense on the day, the Mesa defense accounted for numerous sacks and two interceptions, and special teams added two more blocked punts onto their season.

2019 Season
Despite the fact that the Mavericks season did not start out the way that they intended, they have still been successful. CMU football is now 5-5 overall and 5-4 in the RMAC, meaning that they still have something to fight for in this Saturday's contest. A win this weekend would secure the sixth straight winning season for the Colorado Mesa University football program, one of the longest winning season streaks in school history.
