DENVER, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team (4-4-1, 2-3-1 RMAC) tied 1-1 with Regis University on Friday night at the Regis Match Pitch. Kristen Capan put the Mavericks on the board first in the 52nd minute with the help of Ryanne Parker who recorded her second assists of the season.
Regis tied the match in the 88th minute to send the game into overtime where the game settled 1-1.
Capan who is a Colorado native recorded the first goal of her career in just her second appearance in a Maverick uniform. The freshman forward had only played in one game at the begining of the season against UT-Permain Basin prior to this match.
Despite being outshot 21-7 the Mavericks limited the Rangers to just six shots on goal and took five themselves. Kamrie Gunderson played every minute in the net for the Mavericks this match and recorded five saves.
The Rangers and the Mavericks each took one shot on goal in the second overtime but were denied by the respective goalkeepers.
The Mavericks will now put their attention towards Black Hills State who they will play on Sunday at 1 pm. Black Hills State defeated Western 4-2 on Friday and improved their record to 2-2-1 in conference and 2-6-1 overall.
