GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks women's soccer team ( 7-5-1, 4-4-1) will close out their RMAC road game schedule against Adams State and Fort Lewis this weekend on Friday and Sunday, respectively. On Friday at noon, they will face Adams State on the ASU Soccer Field and on Sunday, they will travel to Dirks Field for a match against the Skyhawks at noon.
The Mavericks enter the weekend with a 4-4-1 RMAC record placing them eighth overall with 13 conference points. Fort Lewis is two places behind the Mavericks with a 2-4-3 RMAC record and Adams State is second to last with a 1-8-0 conference record.
As the regular season is coming to a close these wins are necessary for the Mavericks who currently sit in the last qualifying spot for the 2019 RMAC Tournament. The top eight teams will participate in the RMAC Tournament set for November 8th-10th and the 16th.
All About the Mavs
The Mavericks enter the weekend on a one game-losing streak after CSU-Pueblo snapped the Maverick's three game winning streak in their most recent outing last Sunday by a score of 1-0. In that game Alexis Allard recorded five shots and now leads the team with 37 shots this season and 17 shots on goal.
Last weekend Taylor Jones recorded two goals against New Mexico Highlands to take over as the team's leader scoring with four goals. Zoe Peterson sits behind her and is tied with Allard at three goals this season.
Seven other Mavericks have recorded goals this year and four of them have two goals on the season.
Ryanne Parker and Madison Rasimas are two key starters for the Mavericks who have netted multiple goals this season. These two seniors have started in over 50 game for the Mavericks along with Allard.
The Mavericks are 3-1-1 on the road this season and will look to improve that record against Adams State and Fort Lewis College this weekend.
Scouting Adams State
The Grizzlies enter the weekend on a five game losing streak. In their most recent loss, they fell to Westminster by a score of 3-1.
The last time the Mavericks met the Grizzlies was at home in a 1-0 defeat. This season Jordyn Maes who has two goals on the year leads the team while four others have recorded a single goal.
In the net Corri Zaiger has recorded every start and a 2.50 goals against average while recording 67 saves this season.
Scouting Fort Lewis
In the Skyhawk's most recent outing, they tied Dixie State 0-0 and were on a three game losing streak prior to that. As a team, they have recorded eight goals this season with Emma Patron leading the way with two goals. She also leads the team in points at six adding two assists to her season.
The Skyhawks are taking 49.2 shots on goal, averaging 0.67 goals per game while allowing opponents to take 50.3 percent of shots on goal, and scoring 1.50 goals per game.
In the net Britt Blomso has started all but one match and she has a 69.6 saves percentage.
