GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team (6-4-1, 3-3-1 RMAC) will host New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo this weekend at Walker Field. On Friday at 7 pm they will play NMHU (0-9-0, 0-7-0 RMAC) and on Sunday at 1:30 pm they will play CSU-Pueblo (5-5-1, 4-2-1 RMAC).
The Mavericks enter the weekend tied with Westminster ranked 8th place in the standings. CSU-Pueblo is fifth and NMHU sits in last place.
Ryanne Parker who has seven points this season (2 goals, 3 assists) leads the Mavericks offensively along with fellow senior Alexis Allard who leads the team with three goals. Parker's three assists this season ranks tenth against RMAC opponents.
Kamrie Gunderson has been the Mavericks starting goalkeeper for all eleven matches and will enter this weekend with a 0.95 goals against average and 78.8 saves percentage. The Maverick have recorded three shutouts this season, which are all credited to Gunderson that ranks third in RMAC shutouts per game.
The Mavericks are averaging 12.0 shots per game and are led by Zoe Peterson who has taken 20 shots this season and 11 shots on goal. Lexi Newton and Allard each tied with 18 shots on the year.
Scouting NMHU
The Cowgirls are in search of their first win this season. Janis Martinez who has recorded 31 shots this season and is averaging 3.10 shots per game leads the team. No other player is above a 1.00 shots per game average. In the net Katherine Scott and Karina Vega have split time. Scott who has started six games has a 4.327 goals against average and Vega has a 5.381 goals against average.
The Cowgirls will play Sunday at Walker Field against Western at 11 am after their match on Friday against the Mavericks.
Scouting CSU-Pueblo
The Thunderwolves are averaging 1.36 goals per game and taking 49.6 percent of shots on goal. Madison Jepperson who has ten points this season (4 goals, 2 assists) leads the Thunderwolves. Justine Martinez has recorded three goals on the season. In the net Rylie Martin has started 11 games and recorded a 1.26 goals against average and a 80.9 saves percentage.
In their last meeting back on October 14, 2018 the Mavs defeated the Thunderwolves 3-0 in Pueblo, Colo.
CSU-Pueblo will play Friday against Western at 4 pm prior to their match no Sunday against the Mavericks.
