GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Colorado Mesa University women's soccer team defeated Western 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Walker Field. The Mavericks were on the board early after recorded the only goal of the game in the 11th minute.
Senior Alexis Allard netted her third goal of the season which secured the Maverick's win. The Arizona native has now scored in back-to-back games for the Mavs and has totaled 17 career goals.
As a team the Mavericks outshot the Mountaineers 15-2 and recorded eight shots on goal. As for the Mountaineers they did not attempt a shot on goal giving Kamrie Gunderson no opportunities to make a save. They took two shots throughout the game.
The Mavericks will host New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo next weekend on Oct 18 and 20, respectively. The game against NMHU will kickoff at 7 pm on Friday night and on Sunday the match will begin at 1:30 pm. Both games will be hosted at Walker Field.
