- Colorado Mesa will be playing their second of two back-to-back home weekends this weekend against Fort Lewis after having played Mines at home last weekend. Earlier this year, they played in back-to-back home weekends against Eastern New Mexico and Western Colorado.

- Colorado Mesa is on a four game winning streak against the Skyhawks where they have averaged 31.5 points per game.
- The Mavericks have never been shutout in the series and have five shutout wins in the series with the most recent one coming in 2013, a 42-0 win in Durango.

LAST YEAR'S MATCHUP NOTES
- Colorado Mesa's win snapped a two-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-2.
- The Skyhawks outscored the Mavericks 17-7 in the second half and had to hang on for the win late. Damar'ren Mitchell's interception with 20 seconds to play sealed the win for Colorado Mesa.
- Current Maverick quarterback Aaron Howard stepped in for an injured Eystin Salum in the second half.
- Senior running back Jonathon Beverly rushed for 128 yards on 33 carries and a touchdown as the feature back for the Mavericks. It was his first 100-yard rushing game in nearly three seasons.

AIR ATTACK

Peter Anderson missed last Saturday's game but is slated to play against Fort Lewis. Anderson is still second in the RMAC in both receiving yards (535) and receiving yards per game (107.0) despite missing the game.

In last season's matchup, Anderson caught seven passes for 119 yards.

MAINSTAY
Senior
Ty Leonard has been the one mainstay on the offensive line as the center this year for the Mavericks. He has played in and started all five games this season and played in all 11 games a year ago.

Injuries have plagued the offensive line this season with Leonard as the lone starter that has played in every game.

WRECKING HAVOC
Senior defensive lineman
Mason Newton continues to cause problems to opposing offenses. Against Mines, Newton was tied for the game high in tackles with eight and added two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Newton is ranked fourth nationally and tops in the RMAC in tackles for loss per game at 2.2 TFLs per game.

The Bountiful, Utah native is tied for the team lead in tackles with 43 and has six and a half sacks for 39 yards worth of losses.

RMAC STANDINGS
Mines continues to lead the RMAC standings with a perfect 5-0 mark and moved up to No. 11 in the AFCA national rankings. The Orediggers will be at home this weekend to host Western Colorado, who is one of three one loss conference opponents.

Colorado Mesa is currently in seventh place with a 2-2 mark in the conference and is one of three schools with two losses.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Mavericks will head out on the road to face another nationally-ranked opponent in the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves next Saturday in the ThunderBowl.
