LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks turned the ball over 22 times in a 94-82 loss to New Mexico Highlands on Friday night at the John A. Wilson Complex in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball action.
The 22 turnovers were a season-high and led to 27 Cowboy points. Cowboy Raquan Mitchell had a game-high 34 points on 12-of-24 shooting, 7-of-14 from three to lead Highlands.
The Mavericks shot just 48.5 percent (32-of-66) from the floor in the game and move to 1-2 on the season when shooting less than 50 percent from the field with all three of those games coming on the road.
Senior
Connor Nichols led five Mavericks in double digits with a team-high 23 points. Nichols finished just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds.
Sam Walters returned to his shooting form going 4-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from three, finishing with 14 points.

Tommy Nuno with 10, and newcomer
Kenzo Nudo had 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field.
Colorado Mesa falls to 10-4 on the season and 5-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while New Mexico Highlands improves to 11-3 on the year and 6-2 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will head north on I-25 for tomorrow night's game at CSU-Pueblo. The ThunderWolves defeated Western Colorado on Friday evening.
