Men’s Soccer Dominates CSU-Pueblo Behind Lawan Abary’s Four Goals

PUEBLO, COLO-  The Mavericks dominated the ThunderWolves 6-2. The Mavericks improve to a 3-0-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 RMAC record.

Lawan Abary and Matthew Miller were too much for the ThunderWolve's defense. Abary netted four goals three of which were assisted by Miller. Miller even found a goal for himself in the first plays of the second half. Late in the second half Niall Shaffery recorded his first goal of the season and the final goal that pushed the Mavericks past the ThunderWolves.

Recap

Miguel Alaniz got his second start this season as goalkeeper for the Mavericks. Abary netted his first goal of the game in the first three minute of action. The ThunderWolve's goalkeeper misplayed the ball and Abary took advantage to net his fourth goal of the season.  The ThunderWolves only took one shot before the Mavericks netted their second goal in the 19th minute of action. Again the ThunderWolve's goalkeeper was not enough against the Maverick's Abary. Abary headed his fifth goal of the season off a pass thirty yards out from Miller.

With full control of the game the Mavericks entered half time up 2-0.

It did not take long for the Mavericks to roll over the ThunderWolves. In the first seven minutes of the second half the Mavericks netted three goals. These three goals happened all within the same minute. Abary was responsible for two of them and Mathew Miller netted his second goal of the season.

The Mavericks were up 5-0 before the ThunderWolves recorded their first goal of the game. Archie Jones netted this goal off the rebound and Lewis Chambers was rewarded with the assist. Seven minutes later the Mavericks let up another goal to the ThunderWolves. This time it was Patrick Baeumle who netted the ThunderWolves second goal of the game off a free kick from 35 yards out. Even with these two goals the Mavericks lead 5-2.

The Mavericks were not done yet. Niall Shaffery decided to add to the Maverick's lead by recording his first goal of the season.

The ThunderWolve's misery finally ended after 90 minutes of action and the Mavericks record improved to 3-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in RMAC play.
