It only took one quarter to get a real feel of who was going on to advance to the second round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) tournament. Colorado Mesa University dominated CSU-Pueblo (CSUP) from the opening whistle to the final buzzer. The Mavericks were two goals away from setting the Division II goal scoring record as they finished the game with a 32-6 victory.

In only 10 minutes of action, the Mavericks had already scored enough goals to win them the game and advance on to the championship round. CMU found themselves up 10-1 after the first quarter, and never looked back.

CMU's offense was not only ramped up, but they were also efficient throughout the game. The finished with 76 shots taken, which gave them a 42 percent success rate on their shots for goals ratio. Faceoffs was another department that the Mavericks found themselves with a wide advantage in. CMU finished winning 32-41.
Michael Marino finished going 12-15 while
Nolan Marshall went 15-18 in their nearly split duties.

Brandon Wilson,
Jayden Campbell and
Ethan Gant each netted a hat trick in the contest. Wilson also added two assists to his point total to give him a game high five on the night.
Beau Lansdown was second on the team with four points thanks to a three-assist outing from him.

Remi Reeves got himself his 12
th win of the year in goal. The junior played the first half and allowed only two goals and finished with three saves.

Thirty-two goals is the most goals scored in an RMAC game (post or regular season) this season.

With the victory the Mavericks move on to the RMAC championship game on Saturday, where they will take on Westminster College (WC) for the third time this season.

The Griffins escaped with a narrow 15-14 upset win over No. 16 ranked Rockhurst University on Friday. It was the first win of three meetings this season for the Griffins. WC was able to escape with the win despite only winning nine of 33 faceoffs in the contest. The Griffins entered the RMAC tournament as the number three seed.

In the two games played earlier this season between CMU and WC, the Mavericks came out on top in both contests. However, both games were won by one goal in the final minutes. In their first meeting it took a goal by
Calen Ketcham with 25 seconds remaining to give the Mavericks the win. Then in the second meeting, the game needed overtime to declare a winner where the Mavericks were able to score the final goal to remain perfect in the conference in the regular season.

With the victory the Mavericks are now riding their longest win streak of the season at nine games. Game time for Saturday is set for 2 p.m. at Walker Field.
