GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa left handed pitcher
Reagan Todd pitched eight innings of two-run baseball to lead the No. 12 Mavericks to a 10-2 win over the MSU Denver Roadrunners in an RMAC Tournament elimination game on Thursday (May 10) morning at Suplizio Field.
Todd (7-1) allowed just two runs on six hits, walked four and struck out eight in his eight innings of work. The junior allowed the two runs in the top of third inning, after that he only allowed three base runners for his final five innings of work.
Tanner Herdt relieved Todd for the ninth inning and tossed a perfect frame to close out the game.
Colorado Mesa picked up three runs in the bottom of the second on RBI singles from both
Tyler Sandoval and
John Ballard.
Garrett Ball's RBI double in the third inning extended the Maverick lead to 4-0.
The Mavericks opened it up in the fourth inning scoring six runs on seven hits in the inning.
Junior catcher
Tyler Sandoval went 3-for-4 with a run scored and three runs driven in. Sandoval had a two-run double in the Mavericks six run fourth inning.
Leadoff hitter
Hunter Douglas had three hits in the game as well.
Colorado Mesa pushed its record to 37-14 while MSU Denver ends its season with a record of 22-28.
The Mavericks will move on to the 3pm game tomorrow against UCCS at Suplizio Field.
