TUCSON, Ariz.— Ara Norwood and
Natalee Todd claimed a thrilling 3-set win in the No. 5 match of Colorado Mesa University's dual with the host and nation's 15
th-ranked University of Arizona, the highlight of the Mavericks' weekend at the Wildcat Spring Challenge, which wrapped up Saturday here at Bear Down Beach.

Norwood and Todd dropped the opening set 21-17 but rallied to defeat the Wildcats' duo of Makenna Martin and Chelsey Harris with 21-18 and 16-14 second and third set victories. That match victory was CMU's first against a Pac-12 Conference team this season and just the second of the program's history.

Norwood and Todd now have four victories together in 2018.

Overall, the Mavericks (3-15) fell to Arizona, 4-1. They were then beaten 5-0 by No. 14 California (17-4). Arizona (16-8) squeaked out a 3-2 win over the Bears later in the day.

Nine of the Maverick's matches this season have been against teams nationally-ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll.

The Mavericks will take next weekend off before competing in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Sand 2's Championships at The Sports Oasis in Broomfield, Colo. on Apr. 21.
