GOLDEN, Colo. – The No. 13 Colorado Mesa baseball team moved into first place atop the RMAC standings after a 21-8 win over the No. 30 Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Sunday afternoon at Darden Field.
The Mavericks got things off on the right foot as they scored 10 runs in the first inning before the Orediggers even came to the plate.
Jordan Stubbings hit two home runs in the inning and finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three runs driven in.
In all, the Mavericks tied a school record with seven home runs in the game. The other time they hit seven home runs came in 2007 in an 18-8 win over Cal State LA at Dixie High School in the CCAA-RMAC Crossover Tournament.
Zach McLeod had two home runs and a 2-for-5 game at the plate. He added four runs scored and and foru runs driven in.

Johnny Carr, and
John Ballard all had home runs also.
Taylor Prokopis picked up the win on the mound for Colorado Mesa. Prokopis (4-1) went five innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out four.
Frankie Fitzgerald pitched three innings of relief, allowing one unearned run and just one hit.
Colorado Mesa improved to 32-13 on the season and 22-9 in the conference.
The Mavericks will host MSU Denver in the final regular season series of the year at Suplizio Field. The series will begin on Thursday May 3 with the annual Fireworks Night at 6:05pm.
