Mavericks Topple Griffins in Golf Dual

SALT LAKE CITY – The Colorado Mesa men's golf team added an event to the schedule late last week in an effort to get a couple players some extra rounds heading into the conference tournament and another player the added event to qualify for the postseason.

The Mavericks took on Westminster in a dual match at Bonneville Golf Course. Colorado Mesa defeated the Griffins 595-606 in the two-round event.

Kyle Pearson won the individual medalist honor in the dual with an even par, 144 in his two rounds. The freshman shot a 1-under in his opening round and followed up with a 1-over, 73 in today's final round.

Three players shot a 5-over, 149 in the two rounds. That group included Troy Dangler, Trey Lambrecht and Westminster's Austin Anderson.

The two teams will compete in the RMAC Championships on April 23 in Arizona.
