GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 6 Colorado Mesa baseball team was swept in a doubleheader at Suplizio Field on Saturday (April 14) afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
In game one, Regis scored three runs in the fifth inning on their way to a 4-2 win over Colorado Mesa.
Reagan Todd took the tough luck loss for the Mavericks. Todd (3-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits, walked three and struck out five in the complete game effort. The junior
Colorado Mesa stranded seven runners in the game with five of those left in scoring position.
Tanner Rempel and
Caleb Farmer each finished with two hits in the game.
In the night cap, Regis scored two runs in the top of the seventh for the come from behind 5-4 victory over Colorado Mesa.
The Mavericks led 4-3 in the top of the seventh before a bloop single scored the runner from first base to tie the game followed by another single that scored the go-ahead run all with two outs in the inning.
Rempel had three of the Mavericks six hits in the game. The junior went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs driven in.
AJ Landis took the loss and falls to 4-2 on the season.
The two teams will conclude the four-game series tomorrow at Noon from Suplizio Field.
