LA MIRADA, Calif. –
Alain De La Bastide's come from behind win at No. 5 singles clinched the match for the Colorado Mesa men's tennis team in a 5-4 win over Biola in the final match of their Southern California spring break trip.
De La Bastide trailed 6-7 (2) after the first set then rebounded winning the second 6-1 heading to the third and final set. The sophomore from Venezuela trailed 4-5 in the third set but came back and won it 7-5 to clinch the match.
The Mavericks won two of the three doubles matches to take the early lead. Will Agritelley and
Nick Farmen picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles while
Mitchell Steadman and
Max Lindqvist earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Lindqvist earned his second win of the day with a 7-5, 6-2 straight set win over Philip Westwood at No. 1 singles.
Lucas Martin had the other singles win for Colorado Mesa at No. 4 singles. Martin defeated Joe Turnquist 6-3, 6-2.
Colorado Mesa will head over the Rocky Mountains next weekend for a bevy of matches starting on Friday at Division I Northern Colorado on Friday.
