Rollins College Upsets Mavericks

The number four ranked Mavericks were coming off a huge win against No. 3 University of Tampa last week and held a six-game win streak heading into their game against Rollins College (RC). However, the Tars were able to pull off the upset over Colorado Mesa University Tuesday afternoon. They walked away with a 12-9 victory to get their first win of the season.

RC struck first in the contest before the Mavericks rallied off four of the next five goals to take a 4-2 lead with 11:59 to go in the second quarter. However, the Tars would then score the next three goals to take a 5-4 lead with just under four minutes before the half. With a man up though, Brandon Wilson would score his first goal of the day to tie the game up going into the locker room.

The second half was not a great one for the Mavericks. They would go on to get outscored 7-4 in the 30 minutes, with three of the four Maverick goals coming on man up advantages. CMU committed 10 turnovers in the half as well, and only collected seven ground balls to RC's 21. The fourth quarter was also the only quarter where the Mavericks outshot RC (15-11) but were outscored 4-2.

Over the course of the entire game, the mavericks were outshot 51-33 and finished with six more turnovers. However, the Mavericks did finish with seven man-up advantages and capitalized on five of the seven.

Wilson was the leading point getter for the Mavericks. He finished with four on the day thanks to three goals and one assist. Michael Dasch Jr. was right behind with three points on one goal and two assists.

Remi Reeves got his first loss of the season in the game. He finished with 12 goals allowed and 20 saves.

The loss moves the Mavericks to 6-1 on the year and puts an end to the Mavericks unbeaten season. They will now move on to face Palm Beach Atlantic University tomorrow at 3 p.m. down in West Palm Beach, Fla.
