SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team dropped their second straight game after a 75-56 defeat at Westminster on Saturday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Mavericks allowed 20 or more points in two of the four quarters including 26 Griffin points in the first quarter of action. Westminster led for 97 percent of the game and never trailed.
Colorado Mesa shot 37.9 percent (22for-58) from the field and just 28.6 percent (6-for-21) from behind the three-point line. The Griffins shot 49.1 percent (26-for-53) from the field and were on fire from three, shooting 58.8 percent (10-for-17) from beyond the arc.
Karina Brandon and
Jaylyn Duran shared the team-high for points with 13. Brandon pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Westminster's Denise Gonzalez finished with a game-high 29 points.
The Mavericks fall to 16-7 on the season and 10-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while Westminster improves to 12-9 on the year and 11-6 in the conference.
Colorado Mesa will return home for the final home games of the season on Friday and Saturday in Brownson Arena.
