LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball team picked up a win in the final game of the regular season with a 75-44 win over New Mexico Highlands at the Wilson Complex. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Mavericks heading into the postseason.
A night after the worst three-point shooting performance of the season, Colorado Mesa rebounded with their best performance as they made 14 three-pointers.
Jaylyn Duran was a big part of that effort, draining six three-pointers and finishing with 18 points.
The Mavericks shot 42.4 percent (25-for-59) from the field and over 35 percent (14-for-39) from three. They limited the Cowgirls to 30.6 percent (15-for-49) from the field.
After playing to a 31-26 first half, Colorado Mesa outscored Highlands 44-18 in the second half. They led for over 34 minutes in the game.
Sydni Brandon made a spot start in place of a banged up
Karina Brandon and made the most of it. The Grand Junction native finished with a season-high 11 points and completed the double-double with a season-high 15 rebounds.
Senior
Erin Reichle finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Reichle pulled down six rebounds and handed out five assists.
Colorado Mesa improved to 19-9 on the season and earned the number seven seed in the RMAC Tournament. New Mexico Highlands ends their season at 4-21.
The Mavericks will travel to Denver on Tuesday to play MSU Denver in the first round of the RMAC Tournament at a time yet to be determined.
