Maverick's one match weekend set for Sunday against Western

Game time is set for noon on Sunday

The Colorado Mesa women's soccer team will be competing Sunday Oct 7 at noon against Western State on Walker Field. This Friday the Mavs are due for their bye in the 2018 RMAC schedule. Western's bye is also on Friday, both teams will return to RMAC play Sunday on Walker Field.  Walker Field is hosting a CMU soccer double header. Following the women's soccer match the men's soccer team will battle with Regis at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Many Maverick First

Allyson Swain and Ashton Hall each recorded the first goal of their careers in last weekend's match against Black Hills. The freshmen duo both came off the bench in this match. Hall's substitution resulted in immediate offense netting her first goal minutes after being subbed in.

Swain netted her first goal twenty minutes after being subbed in.

Jessica Jolley the sophomore Fruita, Colo. native recorded her first career start as goalkeeper for the Mavericks. In this match she made four saves on 13 shots faced and allowed two goals.

This is the fourth goalkeeper the Mavericks have started this season.

Hopeful for the RMAC Tournament

As of this week the Mavericks are two points away from being tied for 8th place in the RMAC standings. The top eight teams in the RMAC at the end of the regular season will competed in the 2018 RMAC Tournament. The Mavs have played none of the teams who are currently tied for the 8th spot. These teams included Western, CSU-Pueblo, and Dixie State. This puts them in a good position entering the second half of the RMAC regular season to gain points and be eligible for the RMAC tournament. If the Mavs secure a position in the RMAC Tournament this will be the third consecutive year under head coach Jason Clare.
