This Year's seniors

There are five seniors who will be playing in their last regular season match at Walker Field this Sunday. This year's seniors have made it to the RMAC Tournament the past two years and had their best finish in 2016 when they finished the regular season 4th in the RMAC. During the 2016 RMAC Tournament the Mavericks were able to host a match against MSU-Denver.

This was the first recruiting class head coach Jason Clare was able to recruit after taking over the program in 2014. Because of this he mentioned, "I feel grateful but sad that their careers as soccer players are coming to an end. I have enjoyed coaching them over these last four years and seeing them grow as individuals on and off the field. I am thankful for all of their efforts, hard work and dedication to the program over the last four years and I am proud to have coached them and even prouder they will graduate and become great professionals in their respective fields."

This year's Maverick seniors include Hannah Naftanel, Lauren Thompson, Leily Ghods, Mackenzie King, and Heidi Wendt.

After red shirting her freshmen year Hannah Naftanel the Colorado Springs native has started 37 of the 38 games she has appeared in. Lauren Thompson a native of Oregon City, Ore. has appeared in 64 games as a Maverick and has recorded seven goals over the course of her career. This past weekend she recorded a hat trick against CSU-Pueblo as the Mavericks defeated the Thunderwolves 3-0.

Leily Ghods a native of Folsom, Calif. has been on the Maverick's squad for two years after transferring from Folsom Lake College. In her two years campaign she has appeared in 26 games and recorded one goal during the 2017 season against Black Hills State University.

After playing her first year for Carson Newman University Makenzie King returned to her home town of Grand Junction to represent the Mavericks. During her three year campaign she has appeared in 46 games. She has recorded six assist and netted three goals. She has a shots on goal percentage of .540.

Heidi Wendt is native of Broomfield, Colo. and has appeared in 39 games as a Maverick defender. She has started 17 career games and recorded three goals over the course of her career.
