GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's basketball snapped an 11-game winning streak against the Western State Colorado Mountaineers on Tuesday evening after falling 62-58 in Paul Wright Gym.
The Mavericks shot just 39.3 percent (22-of-56) and was outrebounded 30-20 in the game. Colorado Mesa forced the Mountaineers into 17 turnovers and scored 22 points off of those turnovers. But, Western State shot 48.9 percent (23-for-47) from the field including 50 percent (5-for-10) from the three-point line.
The Mavericks led by five points in the first quarter at 9-4 with 5:12 to play in the quarter while Western State led by as many as seven points at three points in the game including with 3:33 to play at 56-49.
Jaylyn Duran finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field including 3-for-8 from beyond the three-point line. She added a rebound and an assist.

Erin Reichle finished with 14 points and
Karina Brandon added 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Western State's Tammarah Gothard and Katie Dalton each finished with 14 points.
The Mavericks fall to 16-6 on the season and 10-6 in the conference while Western State improved to 7-15 on the season and 4-12 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Colorado Mesa will head to Salt Lake City on Saturday and will close out the week with a matchup against the Westminster Griffins.
