Yellowjackets and Hardrockers Come to Town

Colorado Mesa University is looking to get back on track this weekend against Black Hills State University (BHSU) and South Dakota Mines University (SDMU) after they were swept in their two games last weekend. The Mavericks are hoping to string some wins together over the next few weeks in order to get back into the playoff chase in the RMAC. They are currently sitting at 4-9 in the conference and 8-11 overall on the season, which puts them in 12th place in the RMAC.

The first matchup of the week is against BHSU on Friday night. This is the first time these two teams have seen each other since their bench clearing last February that resulted in the Mavericks finishing the game with only four players. The Yellowjackets come into the game with an 11-6 record overall and an 8-5 record in the RMAC. They are currently sitting in fifth place in the standings thanks in large part to winning seven of their last nine games.

Their second matchup comes against the Hardrockers on Saturday. They are one spot below the Mavericks in the standings and have only won three conference games this season. Four of the teams five starters this season are true freshmen who are getting some significant playing time.

Both games are set for 7:30 p.m. tip offs in Brownson Arena.
